Retropharyngeal abscess in adult-report of a case

Abstract

|
Since antibiotics therapy started, retropharyngeal abscess has been decreased in incidence and has been reported as a-rare disease. Retropharyngeal abscess has rarely been reported. Especially retropharyngeal abscess associated with acute pharyngitis was extremely rare in adult.
A case of retropharyngeal abscess associated with acute inflammation of pharynx which has recently been experienced was confirmed by careful physical examination, lateral film of neck and needle aspiration of abscess pocket, and was cured by immediate incision and drainage under intubation anesthesia combined with adequate antibiotics therapy.
This paper was attempted to report the case with a brief review of references.
